Architectural Fiberglass

Architectural Cornice

One of our specialties is architectural fiberglass. This includes cornices, which are decorative, overhanging moldings that run horizontally along the top of a building. Three styles of fiberglass cornice are box, close and open.

The word itself is derived from the Italian language and means “ledge.” Aside from adding an interesting aesthetic, the practical purpose of the fiberglass cornice is to act as an awning and help prevent rain from making contact with the building. The photo to the right is of antiqued cornice located on Park Avenue in New York City.

Types of cornice are the long narrow box enclosure, snub (or closed, which has no protrusion), open, architrave, bracketed, cavetto and modillion.
